- There were twelve great gods of Olympus.
- Cronus was the most important and the leader of the Titans until his son, Zeus, overthrew him. Zeus was the highest ruler and watched over the sky.
- Poseidon was in charge of the sea and is often seen with a trident in his hand.
- Hades was the ruler of the underworld and was in charge of wealth. He often wore a helmet that could make himself invisible.
- Zeus' wife and sister was Hera. She was the god that protected marriage.
- Athena was only Zeus' daughter. She protects civilization, agriculture and crafts. She was also known for being a battling-goddess.
- Apollo was the son of Zeus and Leto. He is the musician god who plays the golden lyre.
- Artemis is Apollo's twin. She was a hunter and the ruler of wild things.
- Aphrodite was the goddess image of all things love and beauty. She is also known to be very weak compared to the other gods.
- Hermes wore wings on his sandals and held a magic wand. The is known as the most sneaky god, or the 'Master Thief'.
- Ares was the god of war. He is described as murderous and pictured covered in blood.
- Hephaestus was the only ugly god. He was known as the god of fire, but was very peaceful.
- Hestia was a virgin goddess that was the image of the home and is seen with a newborn child.
