Commentary: The story of Judas and the Betrayal tells of the lack of loyalty that Judas had to Jesus. When Jesus need Judas the most, he betrayed his leader and was paid to have Jesus arrested. The stories in Matthew 25, 26 teach of foolishness, loyalty, faithfulness, everlasting life, eternal punishment and betrayal. This story is similar to the story of Hades in Greek mythology. Hades betrayed Zeus. Zeus is a similar person to God, so Hades represents Judas. They both go against the almighty leader and end up paying for it.
- Five foolish and five wise brides went to go meet a groom.
- The wise brought oil for their lamps, but the foolish did not.
- The foolish asked for the oil of the wise, but they refused.
- The door was closed when they went to meet the groom. The foolish arrived asking for the door to be opened, but God denied their requests.
- God praised a traveler for being a faithful and loyal servant.
- God told the traveler that for everything that he gives away, he acquires an abundance.
- He was teaching the traveler the importance of charity.
- The Son of Man is full of glory.
- If you are a friend of the LORD, he will help you if you are in need.
- If you are a stranger to the LORD, he will not help you if you are in need.
- This can either be translated into eternal punishment or an everlasting life with Him.
- Judas was given silver to betray Jesus.
- The chief priests wanted to kill Jesus, so they looked for the help of his disciple.
- Judas agreed to betray Jesus.
